Chippewa County Prevention Services
Many programs are offered to adolescents and teenagers within Chippewa County thanks to Chippewa County Health Department’s Prevention Program. Guiding Good Choices, a program designed to help parents teach skills to their children and enhance communciation is offered to for area families. Prevention staff also provided education to the community regarding underage and high risk drinking, suicide prevention, information on inhalants, marijuana, prescription drug abuse and other drugs, avoidance of chronic health conditions, and many other subjects.
Training has also been received to deliver the Prime for Life program to individuals aged 19 and under within Chippewa County. Prime for Life is a science-based alcohol and drug program designed to persuade individuals to examine and accept the need to change their attitudes and behaviors concerning alcohol and drug use. Prime for Life is delivered to health classes each semester within Sault and Malcolm High Schools and to those individuals who have received a minor in possession of alcohol or have violated their school's alcohol policy.
