    The Chippewa County Health Department coordinates a community-based coalition known as the Chippewa County Tobacco-Free Living Coalition, which meets the first Wednesday of the month from 1:00 - 2:30pm at the Superior Cafe.


    The overall mission of this coalition is to improve the quality of life for all Chippewa County residents by preventing and/or reducing the health problems associated with tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. For more information about the coalition please call 906-635-3636 or email scarey@chippewahd.com


    Michigan Smoke-Free Air Law

    The Chippewa County Clean Indoor Air Regulation and the Michigan Smoke-Free Air Law, which went into effect on October 11, 2004 and May 1, 2010 respectively.  The Chippewa County Clean Indoor Air Regulation and the Michigan Smoke-Free Air Law protects, men, women, and children from the harmful health effects of secondhand smoke in most worksites and public places, making Chippewa County a healthier place to live, work and play. 

    Complaints regarding food service establishments may  be directed to the Chippewa County Health Department at (906)253-3161 or by visiting us at https://www.chippewahd.com/Page/143.  Complaints regarding non food service establishments can be directed to the Michigan Department of Community Health Tobacco Program at (517) 241- 6303 or by visiting www.michigan.gov/smokefreelaw.  Smoke-free business decals are available to business owners at no cost at each Health Department Entrance.   

    A Tobacco Cessation Resource Guide For You

    The brochure titled, A Tobacco Cessation Guide For You developed by the Chippewa County Tobacco-Free Living Coalition to assist people who are seeking help to quit smoking or using tobacco. The brochure provides a listing of tobacco cessation resources in Chippewa County, internet resources, and other helpful information and is available on this webpage and upon request.
