Public Health

FULL-TIME Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant: Chippewa County Health Department is seeking a Michigan licensed, certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) or Physician Assistant to provide outpatient primary and preventive health care, counseling and education to patients age 10 to 21 at the school-based health care center 30 hours per week; and, family planning and EPSDT clinics at the health department 10 hours per week. Ensures quality care is provided in accordance with the health department and school- based health center standards and protocols.  Maintains a safe, caring, inviting student care environment. Must enjoy working with students! Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., no weekend or night work or on-call.

Wage range: $87,000 to $96,000.

Full-time Registered Nurse - Very satisfying work as a Public Health Nurse includes community-based and clinic-based program duties. Must be licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan, and have a driver’s license. Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend work.  The starting pay is $22.28 with benefits including: medical, dental, vision, long-term/short-term disability, life insurance, MERS hybrid retirement (pension/defined contribution).

Full-time, temporary Health Resource Advocates (2 positions) – These positions will work with schools within Chippewa County.  They will help address the greatest needs in school health, provide front-line support for COVID-19 testing and reporting, help school districts identify emerging COVID-related health concerns, and strengthens the best health practices by providing consultation, prevention services, and appropriate public health strategies for the district.  Ideal for registered nurses, educators, social workers and/or community health workers.  The starting pay is $22.28 with the option to elect County benefits during employment which includes: with benefits including: medical, dental, vision, long-term/short-term disability, life insurance, MERS hybrid retirement (pension/defined contribution).

Home Health

Full-time LPN – Performs duties using professional judgment. Ensures quality nursing services are rendered to all clients in accordance with the standards of the Health Department.  The employee in this position must be able to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, clients, and general public in all areas of the Health Department.  The employee must be able to prioritize, multitask, and work independently.  Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.  The person in this classification must be able to maintain confidentiality. Requirements: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan and graduate of an accredited LPN program.  Must have a driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Full-time RN Case Manager - Provides skilled nursing care under the order of a physician in a client’s place of residence and acts as a case manager for the client/family and develops the plan of care with coordination of all disciplines as determined by the nursing assessment.  Ensures quality nursing services are rendered to all clients in accordance with the standards of the Health Department.  The employee must be able to prioritize, multitask, and work independently. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.  Requirements: Associate diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing; current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan, and prefer minimum of two years-experience in medical-surgical nursing.
