Tina Pountney,

Nurse Practitioner

Tina graduated from LSSU in 1995 with BScN and from GVSU in 2002 with MSN and Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. Tina is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15-years of experience as an FNP and 24 years in nursing. She is trained in acute and chronic illness management of all ages. As leader of the medical aspect of the SHACC, Tina provides primary adolescent healthcare including comprehensive physical examinations, immunizations, allergy injections, chronic and minor acute care, concussion management, and confidential services. She is passionate about health promotion and encourages everyone to choose a healthy lifestyle to prevent disease and improve overall health.

Robert J. Devers, Psy.D.

Dr. Robert Devers obtained his Doctor of Psychology Degree in 1993. As a fully licensed psychologist he is experienced in providing outpatient psychological evaluations and therapy to a wide range of individuals and families. He also obtained his Specialist Degree in School Psychology.  Dr. Devers has provided counseling services at SHACC since 2007.

Janet Hess, MA, MSW

Janet has worked her entire career in the Upper Peninsula including 15 years at Pickford schools.  She graduated from Sault Area High School, Lake Superior State University and Central Michigan University.   She specialized in work with depression, anxiety disorder, and marital problems.   Her interests include outdoor activities, running, and activities on Lake Superior.   Janet has provided counseling services at SHACC since 2015.

James Muller, M. MFT

James is a licensed family therapist who specializes in work with families as well as resistant adolescent, abusive relationships, and organizational consultation. James lived in the South, Southwest, Northwest, and Central United States before moving to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in 2004.  After completing his graduate degree, he worked primarily in clinical settings helping children, adolescents, and their families in such programs as deferred adjudication, intensive therapeutic services, and foster care.

Renee Labadie, LMSW

Renee is a licensed Master’s Social Worker who obtained her degree at Grand Valley State University in 2011.  She has also achieved a Bachelor Degree in Human Services with Minors in Sociology, Social Work and Human Services Administration from Lake Superior State University.  She completed her internship with the Luce County Department of Human Services. Renee’s employment history includes experience with Chippewa County Department of Human Services, Hiawatha Behavioral Health, and Community Action.

Dr. Kevin P. Cooper, DDS

Dr. Cooper was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie.  After graduating from Sault High in 1975 he attended Lake Superior State University and then the University of Michigan Dental School.  After Graduating from the University of Michigan he practiced in the Detroit area before moving back to the Sault in 1987.   Dr. Cooper first practiced through the National Health Service Corps at Delray Community Health Center before he moved back to the Sault in the fall of 85 and started his own private practice that is Cooper Dental.

Tyler Aikens,
Dental Assistant

Tyler is a 2013 graduate of Sault High. He has worked with Dr. Cooper in his private office for 2 years now. working through the Dental Assistant program at Washtenaw Community College.
