But who is your WIC Peer Counselor?


A WIC mom just like you who lives in your community! She has been carefully selected and trained by WIC to help give new mothers the latest tips and guidelines for feeding their baby.  Your Peer Counselor is here to give you support to achieve your own goals.


How Can A Peer Counselor Help You?

 By giving you breastfeeding help for:

  • What to expect

  • Making plenty of breastmilk

  • Support from your family and friends

  • Continuing even if you return to work or school

  • Comfort and “how to” in public


What Does A Peer Counselor Do?

  • Listens to you.

  • Gives basic breastfeeding information.

  • Contacts you during your pregnancy to answer your questions.

  • Offers help and support after your baby is born.

  • Builds your confidence.

  • Encourages you when things don’t go as planned.
