As required by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Chippewa County Health Department offers FREE hearing and vision screening services to children aged 3-18. Hearing and vision screens are offered at local schools during the school year, and at the Health Department by appointment. The routine screens in area schools are based on the MDHHS guidelines shown below.
The goal of the hearing and vision screening programs is to identify children with potential hearing and/or vision concerns and assist them in finding care. Early detection, and treatment, if necessary, can greatly enhance a child’s success in school. If you would like to make an appointment for your child for this FREE service, you may call 906-635-3599.
