Infectious Insights
Chippewa County Health Department releases a quarterly newsletter dedicated to keeping you informed on latest trends, outbreaks, research, and prevention strategies related to communicable diseases.
Health Care Providers
The early identification and control of infectious diseases depend on providers who recognize communicable disease or an unusual cluster of similar symptoms. Michigan’s Communicable Disease Rules require physicians and laboratories to report specific communicable diseases within 24 hours. Physicians and laboratories must also report suspected communicable diseases.

School and Childcare Providers
Weekly communicable disease reporting from schools and daycares allows us to monitor health trends in our community. Individual reports of serious communicable diseases allow us to prevent spread by alerting people who might have been exposed and recommend appropriate vaccines or treatment.

Community Members
Chippewa County Health Department provides services to prevent, detect, treat, and stop the spread of communicable diseases. Our work includes testing, treatment, and partner notification for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as our harm reduction services to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. We also provide immunizations to protect against over 20 vaccine-preventable diseases. Education for our community is a priority for us, because the best choices are informed choices.
